HLC’s summer program provides intensive instruction and practice opportunities to students K-12 with an autism spectrum disorder. The morning sessions include social skills instruction using the Circles Program curriculum. Asperger students concentrate on understanding other’s emotions, appropriate relationships, and conversational skills. Autism diagnosed students target identifying emotions, verbalizing greetings, and getting information. During the afternoon, all students practice employment and consumer skills. Our campus will become a small city where students will apply for a job, work, and shop. Younger students will be in small group instruction focusing on safety themes.
